1982 Kadey-Krogen 42 PH Krogen Trawler

The hull and cabin sides of the Krogen 42′ were built of fiberglass sandwich construction with closed-cell PVC foam core; heavy hand lay-up using mat and roving. This construction remains one of the most enduring and safest afloat. (Closed-cell PVC foam core does not deteriorate or absorb water.) The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull.

Decks were built of a fiberglass sandwich construction with end-grain balsa core. The main deck offered a teak overlay and the boat deck was molded with a non-skid surface. (A teak overlay was available at the purchaser’s option.)

All joinery work, paneling, cabinetry, and beam caps were of fine teak. Countertops were topped with Formica. All lockers and closets were lined with teak veneer and Formica.

The aft deck is fully covered by the boat deck making it the ideal place to enjoy al fresco dining, morning coffee or your favorite sundowner, and nighttime lighting is provided by overhead LED light. The large transom door allows easy access to the teak swim platform. There is a large lazarette hatch leading to the voluminous lazarette storage...

Entering the saloon through teak double doors from the aft deck you have the large saloon. To starboard is a large custom convertible sofa, entertainment cabinet and galley, completely open to the saloon. To port is a U-line ice maker in a custom teak cabinet. Original Teak bifold dining table with self-storing teak chairs (4). The sole is the traditional Krogen teak parquet in perfect condition. Each window has a teak valance and shades that raise and lower allowing for both privacy and natural light. The open-faced galley is at the forward starboard side of the saloon. Dual integrated Stainless-steel sinks give the cook plenty of room, all the while being part of the social festivities. Major components include:

Forward and up four steps from the saloon and galley is the raised pilothouse. The helm display and wheel are teak. There are two chart drawers with additional drawers and a large bulk storage area under the helm. There is a watch berth with two opening port holes in the aft bulkhead. Port and starboard teak sliding entry doors. 

Master stateroom forward with starboard offset double berth and custom mattress. Eight below berth drawers, a built in dresser and a large lighted hanging locker to port with numerous shelves, will provide all your storage needs. An overhead hatch with three bronze portholes gives plenty of natural light and ventilation. Ensuite Raritan Crown electric head with fresh water flush, stainless steel sink, vanity and storage. Large Fiberglass shower stall with Stainless steel fixtures (new in 2015).

Guest stateroom/office to starboard and aft of master with upper Pullman style drop down berth and lower starboard berth. A desk, hanging locker, generous drawer and cabinet storage. Two opening portholes.

Guest head to port, aft of master with Raritan Crown electric fresh water flush, stainless steel sink, vanity and storage, stall shower enclosure with fiberglass basin and seat (new in 2015). Two bronze portholes for natural light.
